First Lego League (FLL)
Eden Prairie's First Lego League is for students entering 4th-6th grade in the Fall of 2018. FIRST programs were developed to inspire young people to become science and technology leaders, by engaging them in mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills. Are you ready to challenge your mind and compete head-to-head with robots? Then check out the FIRST Lego League!
First Lego League (FLL) introduces children to the real world engineering challenges by building Lego based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams are guided by their imaginations and adult coaches.
Team meeting days and times will be decided by the mentor and team members to help fit the schedule of all team members. Each team will build and program a robot to complete the 2018 FIRST mission. Teams will compete with their robot in a regional tournament in the metro area near the end of the season. New Eden Prairie FLL teams will be formed in August or early September.
Parent involvement is an important part of the FLL program. We ask that all parents participate as a volunteer in some way, whether it be as a mentor or offering to organize snacks. Teams are contingent on identifying a volunteer mentor to lead the team through the season. If we are unable to identify a mentor for the team, all participants will be refunded. All lead mentors receive $35 off their child's FLL registration in the form of a refund after all teams are established.
