Childbirth: Labor and Delivery 101

Enter childbirth feeling prepared and informed! We’ll review the process of labor including signs of active labor and what to expect throughout the process. We'll talk about common strategies used to cope during labor such as positions, water therapy, doulas, medications and epidurals and review routine care during labor, medical interventions to treat common complications of labor, and who to expect on your care team. We’ll also discuss Cesarean birth (indications, risks, benefits, alternatives, and what to expect during and after the operation). Lastly, we talk about recovering in the hospital and what to expect the first few days for mom and baby including, normal newborn transition and feeding initiation (breastfeeding, formula, and pumping).
