  • Adult Tap Dancing - Beginning

    Slip into a pair of tap shoes and make music with your feet. Learn how to shuffle, flap, ball change, shuffle-off-to-buffalo, and shuffle-hop-step plus some simple tap combinations. Start class with warm-ups, then learn some simple tap steps and combinations to get you across the room. You’ll be amazed at the sounds your feet can make. Plan to take Beginning Tap for the entire school year. Must re-register every quarter. Bring a pair of flat tap shoes or purchase shoes at Step 'N Stretch in Burnsville.   • Adult Tap Dancing - Intermediate

    Continue to work on the basic tap steps learned in Beginning Tap and continue with more complex combinations. You will learn a few new tap steps that are a bit more advanced. Begin with a warm-up, then work on steps in the middle of the room. Class will end with combinations going across the floor, using the steps you just learned. Bring a pair of flat tap shoes or purchase shoes at Step 'N Stretch in Burnsville. Prerequisite: At least one full year of multiple sessions of Beginning Tap or consent of the instructor.     Come and enjoy learning Spanish in a fun and caring environment.  We will continue studying verbs and grammatical concepts which are found in the text book, Spanish is Fun Book B (copyright 2016).  We will also be reading a new novel which will help to increase vocabulary and stimulate good conversation. Prerequisite: Must have completed Intermediate Spanish or received pre-approval from the instructor.

    Learn to follow a plan to act quickly and effectively in a life-threatening situation. You will be trained in CPR and Airway Obstruction for adults, children, and infants by practicing your skills with manikins and AED (Automated External Defibrillators) trainers. An American Heart Certification Card will be issued at the end of class. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. Please inform your instructor if you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities. Bring a pad or blanket to kneel on.

    Building off of the basics learned in Intro to American Sign Language, we will improve receptive skills and grammar, as well as build out our ASL vocabulary in this interactive class. While no textbook is required, it is recommended that you bring a writing utensil and paper for note taking. Prerequisite: Introduction to American Sign Language or instructor consent.

    The focus of this class is on the techniques and thought process necessary to successfully play a hand of bridge.  The class will consist of an hour of lecture with examples and an hour of playing hands set up to address the points covered by the lecture.  The class also includes a period of review of the first book.  The text which accompanies the course is available from the instructor for $20.

  • Build a Ukulele

    Learn to build a quality ukulele in this class over a period of 4 weeks.  Instruments will be constructed from the Stewart MacDonald Soprano, Concert or Tenor ukulele kits.  Instructor will provide approximately 30 minutes or less of instruction each session on construction methods, techniques and theory.  The remainder of each class will be open work time.  A gamut of specials tools, jigs, fixtures and supplies will be available to use in a woodshop environment.  Students are welcome to leave early if needed and will be encouraged to take home their project to work on their own time if desired.  There will be time for one on one support from the instructor during class. Instructor will contact participants 2 weeks prior to the start of class for ukulele options and selection.  $80-110 for Ukulele kit and consumables is payable to instructor in class. Cost varies depending on choice of Soprano, Concert or TenorUkulele kit.

    This class is for those who use Microsoft Excel on a regular basis. If you find yourself daily/weekly/monthly making the same kinds of changes to your spreadsheets, it may be time to automate those tasks with macros. This class shows you how to “record” and make simple changes to a macro.     Most of us have feet that lack mobility and strength. This is directly linked to alignment issues and joint pain in other parts of the body. This two-hour event will address some of the common causes of those tight, stiff feet. Dress for some simple movement. We will be barefoot. Bring a yoga mat or folded blanket.
