    This camp is a hands-on product design class emphasizing creative thinking and problem-solving. Students will explore options to find, modify, and prepare 3D files to be brought to life using a 3D printer. By the end of this course, students will become familiar with the workflow and terminology of digital fabrication. We begin learning by designing and printing functional fishing lures, then continue solving design challenges. Printing and material fees are included.

  • Coding: Hacking Java Games

    Hack into the code of classic games! Students will learn Java coding skills while modifying games such as Asteroids, Tetris, Snake, and more! Coding beginners and more experienced students will love this class. This fun class is our staff and students' favorite codling class. This class requires keyboarding skills, as we will be editing text files. Bringing a flash drive to save code is recommended.

    In this captivating underground adventure, every step unveils the secrets of the Earth's mysterious depths. Led by a certified cave guide, students will delve into the fascinating world of geology, discovering the intricate processes that shape these subterranean wonders. Along the way, you'll also learn about the diverse array of animals that call caves home, adding a fascinating layer of biodiversity to your exploration. And don't miss the chance to witness the enchanting glow of florescent and phosphorescent rocks, illuminating the darkness with their radiant hues under the glow of black light. Students will build survival shelters and learn about fire-building in the outdoors so whether you're a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a first-time camper, the Dodge Nature Center Wilderness Skills workshop is your ticket to mastering the wild and embracing the thrill of survival.     Explore the awesome world of Dungeons & Dragons! Learn about the game, create your own character, and embark on a short one-shot adventure. Participate in D&D-related STEAM activities, like creating your own D&D-inspired video game. Bring a USB drive on the last day. Students should have basic reading skills.
  • Engineering: Solar, Hyrdo, and Wind Powered

    Combine engineering and alternative energy (solar, hydro, and wind)! Build cars, cranes, drawbridges, and more from LEGO® kits and operate them using alternative energy sources. Students working in teams will experiment with wind, water, and solar panels, resulting in a high-powered, high-energy course! Projects include a waterwheel, windmill, Ferris wheel, and solar car. Students will learn how energy is developed from the sun, wind, and water. Students will use the concepts they learned to design and create a test car to compete against their classmates on the last day. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.
  • Extreme Robotics: Battlebots

    This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO® building systems versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO®). Working each day in teams, students will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each days activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.
  • Extreme Robotics: Bionic Beasts & Creatures

    Students will program robots to move, act and think on their own. Discover the excitement of programming your creation to follow a command and watch it go. Our classes are fun, educational, and hands-on, teaching students the foundations of building and programming concepts. Students working in teams will then be challenged to morph their projects into better, stronger, or faster robots.
  • Extreme Robotics: Robot Wars

    Exciting class with new builds and challenges! Take your engineering skills to a higher level. Build remote-controlled robots inspired by the popular Discovery Channel's BattleBots. Students will use the EV3 Mindstorm Robotics Systems and unique LEGO® Technic™ engineering components to build extreme, competitive robots. Students will be challenged to morph their projects into better, stronger, and faster robots to compete in a tournament on the last day. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.

    Join us for an engaging field trip that blends education with excitement, offering students an immersive experience they'll never forget. During this interactive learning adventure, students will dive into the physics of flight through demonstrations and engaging STEM presentations. Students will explore the principles of aerodynamics, learning how factors like air resistance and body position impact their ability to soar through the sky. But the excitement doesn't stop there! With hands-on activities that bring science to life, students will experiment with the forces that govern flight and under the guidance of a certified instructor experience firsthand the thrill of defying gravity!
